That's when you take him with you to have it appraised. If it's a real diamond, it's worth what he said he paid. If it isn't, he'll be put on the spot right there in a jewelry store. How convenient for you.

I think the FML here isn't that the man spent only $11 on her ring but that he lied about it to make himself look good.

Suck it up you snobby little brat. Who cares if your fiancé only spent a small amount of money on your ring it's the thought that counts. My fiancé found my ring on the side of the road and it is the most beautiful ring I have ever had. I wouldn't have cared if he had proposed to me with the ring my great grandmother had given me because we love eachother that much and no ring can replace our love for eachother :)

thank you 448! good lord. I wouldn't care how much a ring I got was (except if it was too expensive... I didn't see the need) but I would be incredibly pissed if the guy lied about how much he spent just to make himself look good
