Today, my friend sent me a link to a "horrible" tattoo that he found online, that a guy had gotten at my tattoo parlor. FML

Well OP it's a matter of opinion right? If the client was happy that's all that matters.

Maybe it was done right just not the best choice of tattoo by the customer.

If it was of "Hagar The Horrible," then it could actually be good and still be Horrible.

After reading your comment, I pictured the client asking for Thor and getting Hägar instead. (:

The only thing I'm wondering is if you did the tattoo

may be the tattoo was OK but the canvas wasnt right...

Was the client happy? That's all that matters. They have to wear it the rest of their life.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder This needs a followup, though. The FML community would love to get an eyeful to behold - then we could give an informed YDI or YLS

if he didn't take care of it then it could look like a bad tattoo. some people don't take care of them afterwards and then blame it on the tattoo artist.

Strictly from curiosity, what does one have to do afterwards to take care of a tattoo?

From someone who has multiple tattoo a lot goes in to proper after care. You have to keep it out of direct sunlight, no soaking it, clean it multiple times a day, apply lotion etc a lot can go wrong without proper aftercare

There's a tattoo parlor close to my job so I often get newly tattoo people coming in to get a drink afterwards. They all smell like A&D ointment. Blah! But the early stage of taking care of your tats are key. Gotta keep the ink properly sealed.
