Why would she fart to begin with? Um, because it's a normal bodily function. You do it too... I promise. Even if you hold it in all day, once you fall asleep and relax those tensed muscles, you will release gas. While she should have at least tried to go to another room, preferably the bathroom, that's not always possible. Thing slip out.
