Today, I spilt boiling tea all over my stomach and left leg, so I went to the hospital to get it checked out. They said I wouldn't be able to expose it to the sun for the next two months. I'm going to Barbados tomorrow. FML

Just wear a one-piece (if you're a girl)! If you're a guy, just keep a t-shirt on. it's not that bad. You can still have fun :D

The doctors have a reason for things. They don't prescribe you or advise you just to make your life harder. I don't see why anyone would thumb your comment up.

#7. you are the idiot. i was implying that the OP should disregard the doctors orders and still go out and have fun on his/her vacation. Because honestly, i think that a lot of doctors just give out loads of bullshit

#6: If you expose a new burn to another heat source, it will continue to burn. Just like if you were to put hot food that you had just taken out of a pot/pan and set it beside a hot fire, it would go on cooking, whereas cold food might get a little warm, but not do that. Heat collects, and it lingers in skin burns. OP: I'm so sorry, what a bummer! It will be painful for a few days for sure. Hopefully you can be in happy margaritaville to numb it a little! Meanwhile, just put bandaging over the burns and if it tans funny, so be it. There's always fake tanner for later. Have a good trip! :)

Haha have fun on that vacation. You could always just, ya know, sit under an umbrella

@ #18: Both spilled and spilt are correct. Past participles ending in -ed are more common in American English, but the -t endings are more common in British English.

I don't know about this.. I spilled hot soup on my legs once and all the doctor did was give me an ointment and said I'd be fine in the sun as long as I put the cream on and some sunscreen. And it healed up in 5 days.
