Today, I spent two hours making dinner for my boyfriend's family. When I brought it over to their house they said "thanks" and didn't bother to invite me to stay to eat it. FML

At least now you know they're not worth expending any effort for.

You should have said "Now that you saw my food I guess I'll be leaving with it, I just wanted to show you how delicious it was!!"

They probably thought it was a given that you were staying to eat. I mean, unless they literally told you to leave I'm sure they were left wondering why you didn't stay to eat with them.

maybe theeir family is having some drama. i know theirs been times in our house when my sister and my mom get in a huge fight around dinner time and if someone came over my dad would quietly and nicely accept and thank them, then close the door and go through and awkward night. and thats just ONEEE example. dont assume the worst op your life isnt ****** and ydi for thinking it is

Hmm...I'm really sorry. The right thing for them to do is offer for you to stay and join them...but maybe it was given that you'd be joining them. I'd be confused as well in the situation; I need people to make it clear that I'm invited. That really does blow though :( FYL.

oh no boo hoo, isnt the point of doing something nice is to make THEM feel better? not you?

Did they ask you to make them food, or did you just randomly show up with it? If they asked for it, then they are total asses. If you just randomly brought it over, then there could be a ton of reasons why they didn't invite you to stay. Talk to your boyfriend about it, it may have been a misunderstanding. If they don't like you, don't automatically leave your boyfriend. As long as he stands up for you, his family's opinion of you doesn't really matter.

what an ass.... dump himm fo real

If I made food for my fiance's mother and brought it over, it would be an open invitation for me to stay and eat. MAYBE they assumed you didn't need an invite? I don't know how people think though.. so..
