Today, I received the box my parents sent me for my birthday. Contents were a travel first-aid kit, and a remote control robot toy, with an age recommendation on the box of 8. I'm 29. They thought that since I'm an engineer I would like the toy. They also think I'll hurt myself with it. FML

At 29, I think you should be grateful that you got a gift at all, and that your parents are thinking of you. That said, I clicked FYL not because your gift sucked, but because clueless parents are capable of wreaking amazing damage on your life. Stay on your toes, OP.

Perhaps the idea isn't to play with the toy but to disassemble it and have a good ol fiddle. Band aids in case you hurt yourself or a passive reminder to be careful ;)
