Thanks, iHate it

Today, it was my birthday. I have been heavily hinting that I want an iPhone. I opened my present from my parents and found an iPhone box. Ecstatic, I quickly opened it. Apparently, my parents thought it would be funny to wrap my present, a $10 iTunes gift card, in the box my Dad's iPhone came in. FML

That isn't funny. But a 10 dollar iTunes gift card is something. Something is better than nothing

I don't know about that guys. I'm thinking the FML is more that they acted like they were getting her the phone by giving her the box but didn't. She has obvious reason to be disappointed as opposed to them just saying no which would still disappoint but not half as much. Wouldn't you be sad if you unwrapped a present and was all "OMG you got me the new *whatever*! You shouldn't have" Then you open it's..a Itunes card. As opposed to it just being "Wow, Itunes card, sweet!"

Got to say I agree with you here. At least they got you something. Maybe for their birthday get them something extra special.. Lol Like ...nothin. Lol xD

10% of something is better than a 100% of nothing..... be grateful

The only thing that comes to mind is the parents who filled their 8 year old sun's fake-Xbox 360 box with clothes and the look on his face was just heartbreaking.

Hey, at least they didn't put an iPhone Dummy (there is a site that sells real looking fake iphones) inside. That would have been even meaner.

Your probably thinking "I'm so upset because I didn't get an iPhone for my birthday!" Read that over a few times, even say it out loud. Then reconsider if your life actually is f*****

# 18 tru dat but when ur parents deliberatley stick the gift card in an iphone box as a trick then thats when its ok to get pissed

You're just a spoiled brat. Alot of kids don;t get anything so instead of being grateful you're just whining like an ungrateful spoiled brat!

He's spoiled just because he WANTS an iphone? Um, no. He isn't upset that he didn't get an iphone, he's upset because his parents set him up for a letdown. They made him think he was getting an iphone when he wasn't. Being upset about a letdown like that doesn't make you spoiled.

Very well said. How can people think OP is spoiled? Seriously, people should read the posts. You win the internet for not being a moron like most of the commenters.

I would fill a huge box with... styrofoam... when they open it and empty the contents to see nothing... or a note...but no actual present

how dumb. doesn't make he/she a spoiled brat. come on... that's what the person really wanted and they play a mean joke like that. he has the right to be upset

I did that to my mate for her bday. she got so ****** excited and she opened it. they were smuggle badges x]

You don't need an iPhone. Don't bitch.

He wouldn't be able to use it though

....what's the point of an itunes card without an iPod/iTouch/iPhone? Your parents are jerks.

OPISDUMB 0

To buy music? HURRRRRR. They have this things called computers, and you use them to get music before putting it on your music playing device of choice. Notice I said "get" and not "buy"? I mention this just for you because you're probably so retarded you actually buy music. And sorry to hear that OP, althought getting something is better than nothing, apple and everything they make sucks and you're going to look like a retard paying for music.

God damnit, FML staff! FIX THE ******* REPLY PROBLEM!!

You probably get this a lot, #26, but you're an asshole.

Supporting the artists is being retarded? LOL.

The key to happiness is low expectations.

Your parents are jerks, but hinting at an expensive gift is a little much, don't you think? But yeah, your parents are pretty jerky.

Wow, your life is ****** because your parents didn't buy a $400 phone with a $50ish a month data plan. Boo freaking hoo, if you want a phone to make you look cool go get a job

aero_fml 0

Do you realise how expensive an iPhone is?

I only get one gift from my birthday, reflecting on how good I've behaved and how well I've done in school (back when I lived with my folks). It was normally something really nice (like a drawing desk) if I was good and getting wonderful grades, or something shitty (A cheap item from the Dollar Store) if it was a bad year. A birthday is meant to be special, granted you deserve it. Not a day where your parents are suppose to get your hopes up for the one thing you've asked for, and laugh in your face once you discovered you've been duped.

I would assume that your one gift normally doesn't have a monthly bill attached to it that averages $100. Let's see - LOWEST monthly plan offered by AT&T $39.99 + $30 for the Data Plan REQUIRED + $20 for Unlimited SMS (seriously who wouldn't have this?) = $89.99 before fees or taxes or any other usage charges. Even if they're on a family plan, its still over $60 a month EVERY MONTH. Unless the kid was paying for it, I think the parents gave them enough, and YDI.

^^ Agreed Plus iPhones are pieces of shit anyway. The ONLY reason people buy them is because you think it will make you look cool. It may be impressive to the fuckstain in the line behind you at Starbucks, but for those with more than 3 brain cells, you ain't impressin' nobody.

wtf, AT&T seriously sucks ass. I'm on T-Mobile and I pay $35 a month for my data plan and it includes unlimited texting.

Nope I love my iPhone, it's really good for me because at my house all we can get is dial-up Internet. I live in the woods and we just don't get high speed internet. My parents have look into it and they don't want to pay $3000 to run the wires to my house for it. It's convient for me, especially at work. I also use it as a planner and have my balance for my bank accounts. So how about you stfu and stop assuming that people only get iPhones to "be cool". If people don't mind paying for the plan, there's no reason to mock them for it.

it's not ThAt she didn't get the iPhone, it's the fact that they wrapped the card in an iPhone case, getting her excited just to see her disappointment :/ it's a crappy thing to do

your missing the point. if it was a regular i didn't get it story then i would agree with you. but its the fact that they tricked into thinking he got one is whats ****** up. the fact that he thought he had an actual iphone a top quality phone then in a second have that joy ripped out is whats cruel.

Do you even have AT&T? You can get a $15 data plan, not $30. And you can get a $25 data plan. Just in case you didn't know...

well, thanks for insulting me, I don't buy phones so that they would make me look cool I chose it because it was free and had a really cheap monthly contract I use it mostly for keeping in touch with my carer and my psychologist and I use it as an mp3 player and use afew apps. making fun of someone for their choice of technology is immature and it makes you out as an unapproachable bitter person.

that's a shit thing to do. better retaliate.

Hey my B-days tomorrow If you don't want it....

Christmas is Just around the ******* corner. Wait and see what you get first, before you retaliate.

Um, I CAN'T see how they'd be upset if they got something else for a couple of hundred dollars. "I wanted and iPhone and the assholes got me a PS3! WAHHHH!" That would be horribly ungrateful and much worse than being upset about getting a $10 gift card.

perdix 29

What I am really saying that he is completely out of touch with reality if he think he can expect a gift worth hundreds of dollars when they can only afford $10. Either that, or they CAN afford the iPhone, but the OP ****** up so royally, they decided to take a big, fat, hairy, ten-dollar dump on his birthday, just to show him!

I can see how he should not be upset if they just didn't give him the iPhone. If they gave something else wrapped in an iPhone box that's just harassment.
