Today, I heard two of my students having a conversation. One asked what state Arizona was in, and the other replied Canada. I teach sixth grade social studies and they weren't joking. FML

Today, in the senior class I teach, I asked my students who had traveled outside of the country, excluding Canada and Mexico. One student raised his hand and proudly stated, "Arizona". He wants to be a doctor. FML

Today, I was giving an anti-drugs speech to a group of ninth graders. I got onto the topic of trafficking from problem countries and asked a student to point out Mexico City on a map. He hesitated a few seconds before pointing at Canada. What the hell has the education system come to? FML

Today, some people in my class here in New Zealand found out that I'm from Canada, then spent the rest of the period asking if I had a pet moose and whether or not I lived in an igloo. They were completely genuine questions. FML

I am so tired of people calling each other stupid on here! Also, using the term "retard" so liberally is ignorant. There is nothing wrong with being developmentally delayed and using "retard" in the context that is it used on here gives it a derrogatory meaning. The irony of calling someone a "retard" is amusing. Smarten up and get with the times!

110, First of all, don't subscribe to the Times. Second, there's in inherent hypocrisy in calling people who use the word "stupid" ignorant. Third, since "retard" is from the French expression "au retard "late", as is the word "tardy," it is reasonable to surmise that people who say things that they should know by now are incorrect are "retards" for being late to get the clue.
