Today, I got to sleep in late for the first time in 3 years, as wife took our two young daughters out of town to visit with her parents. I told my mother that I was really looking forward to being able to sleep in this morning. The phone rang at 7:30. It was my mother asking me how I slept. FML

Today, I finally had a day off in two weeks and I was excited about getting to sleep in. At 5 a.m., my mom loudly knocked and came in. When I asked her what she wanted, she said she was checking to see if I was asleep. FML

Today, my wife finally let our kids stay the night at my mom's house, meaning we had our first night totally alone together in 6 years. She spent all night texting my mom for updates on the kids or on the phone to her sister, so I watched a film by myself then went to bed bored at 8:15 p.m. FML

Today, my husband was going to let me sleep in for Mother's Day. That would have been great, if my brother didn't call me at 5:30 in the morning to say Happy Mother's Day. Now I'm up like any other day. FML

Today, I had three days off work. My mom woke me up for work on all three of those days, despite my repeatedly asking her not to. When I actually had to go to work this morning, she didn't wake me up. At least I wasn't late. FML

Today, I didn't get to sleep until 5 a.m., as I stayed up to finish off a big project that I have been working on for the past week. I was then woken up at 6 a.m. by my daughter saying she was ready for school. School starts at 9 a.m., and is a 2-minute drive away. I'm now at work, living off an hour of sleep and coffee. FML

Today, after an exhausting weekend of work, I decided to take a nap. I was awoken several hours later by my mother-in-law knocking on my door. Apparently my 11-year-old called up grandma to complain that she was hungry and that mum was sleeping instead of cooking dinner. FML

Have you ever tried being sleep deprived for three years? I haven't, admittedly, but even three WEEKS of never getting enough sleep (which I HAVE experenced, many times) would be enough to make me want to post on FML.

Not everyone can just go back to sleep after having been woken up - especially within a few hours of when they'd naturally wake up. It has to do with where you are in your sleep cycle. Man, that sucks. Sorry.

While I agree with some of the commenters on how this really technically isn't an FML. I mean, if you hadn't slept in for 3 years you would be used to it. ON THE OTHER HAND: I would go to wherever your mom is and combine #1 & 2 and piss on her face at 5:00 AM That's just me. Your mom is a total bitch. I would have cussed out my mom so much if she did that. Luckily my mom is nice and would never do something like that.
