Today, I got to sleep in late for the first time in 3 years, as wife took our two young daughters out of town to visit with her parents. I told my mother that I was really looking forward to being able to sleep in this morning. The phone rang at 7:30. It was my mother asking me how I slept. FML

Today, I finally had a day off in two weeks and I was excited about getting to sleep in. At 5 a.m., my mom loudly knocked and came in. When I asked her what she wanted, she said she was checking to see if I was asleep. FML

Today, my wife finally let our kids stay the night at my mom's house, meaning we had our first night totally alone together in 6 years. She spent all night texting my mom for updates on the kids or on the phone to her sister, so I watched a film by myself then went to bed bored at 8:15 p.m. FML

Today, my husband was going to let me sleep in for Mother's Day. That would have been great, if my brother didn't call me at 5:30 in the morning to say Happy Mother's Day. Now I'm up like any other day. FML

Today, I had three days off work. My mom woke me up for work on all three of those days, despite my repeatedly asking her not to. When I actually had to go to work this morning, she didn't wake me up. At least I wasn't late. FML

Today, I didn't get to sleep until 5 a.m., as I stayed up to finish off a big project that I have been working on for the past week. I was then woken up at 6 a.m. by my daughter saying she was ready for school. School starts at 9 a.m., and is a 2-minute drive away. I'm now at work, living off an hour of sleep and coffee. FML

While turning all the phones off sounds like a good idea, there could've been an emergency and he'd have no way of knowing, so... No. As for going back to sleep, well... Not everybody can do that easily or at all. So it sucks for you, OP, but FYL? Wee bit of an overreaction...

The bedroom phone should have been shut off. If there was an emergency, someone repeatedly calling would have woken you up from another phone probably, but odds are, one call would not have done the trick, and you would have been able to actually sleep in.

My fiancé has trouble waking up at night even if his cell phone is turned on and on loud. I had an emergency once and called him in the middle of the night. It took me a good 10 minutes and about 20 phone calls plus about five million texts to get him to wake up. A phone ringing in a different room NEVER EVER woken him up.

#53 has got it down right. Also, you should do what some of the others here have suggested & call her early as shit- Ask her how sleeping in is. Or just walk into her room one day & throw water balloons at her.... Thats how angry I feel when people wake me up knowing I'm trying to sleep in.
