she may just be dealing with some anxiety with your kids sleeping somewhere else for I'm assuming the first time, I can be hard for us moms not to feel nervous the first few times! I'm sure she'll relax a bit more after a few more times of them spending the night with your parents and you'll be able to have a better time! I'm not nervous when my kids go for sleep overs with my inlaws, but sometimes during those breaks I judt don't want to be touched lol, or I just want to sit and do pointless things on my phone for a bit! but if my husband asks me of I want to go out and do something you bet I'm going lol.
If it’s the first time, try to reassure her. Even for the second or third. Go on a date together, then maybe reach out and have your mom send you updates or photos while she’s distracted. Then you can show her you are concerned too, which will help reassure her. But throwing a silent tantrum and going to bed early isn’t going to do anything for her but make her question what’s the point in letting them stay over if you are going to ignore how she feels?
