Kitchen Nightmares

Today, at work teaching a cooking class, one of the kids asked if they could use a knife to help me chop vegetables. I said no, because it was very sharp and only staff members are allowed to use them. Just as I said that, the knife sliced through the tip of my thumb. FML

And now you get to teach them first aid! You're such a good teacher.

I've been in a similar situation... Isn't any fun. Hope your thumb is ok!!!

Wouldn't have happened if the kid hadn't distracted you. Don't feel bad, op. I've done it too, but not while teaching.

*holds up bloody thumb* And this kids is a great example of why only adults get to use the knife.

At least it wasn't the kid's finger.

what kind of cooking class doesn't let students use a knife to CHOP FOOD that needs a chopping? hooray for trust! or what ever. .

I would have ignored the cut and said. "Anyway, you could do _____." And while he wasn't looking, go get first aid.
