Today, I called my boyfriend to have a shoulder to cry on because my grandpa died. As soon as I told him, he started crying and telling me how much he missed his grandmother, who died six years ago. I spent the majority of the phone call listening to him wail. FML

Today, I took my girlfriend out for a romantic dinner, since we can't see each other this Valentine's Day. Halfway through, my aunt called, telling me my grandma had died. I had to leave because I was crying so much, leaving my girlfriend with a very pricey bill. FML

Normally I'd agree, it's very stupid to break up with someone so hastily. Though I'd assume when OP called, she sounded incredibly upset, which her boyfriend should have heard and thought maybe the phone call was more important than a video game.

I am so sorry about both your grandma's diagnosis and your boyfriend's reaction to the news. What is beyond me, how come there's over 600 YDI's here. Who in their right mind can check YDI on this? If there's one unanimous FYL, this should be it, IMHO. I know, unanimous FYL's don't exist, but 600+ YDI's??? Come on, people...

wow.. back when my husband and I had been dating for like eight months, he had just left my house when my dad called saying my grandma had cancer and I called him crying and he actually went and came all the way back to my house to comfort me.
