Some of the people commenting already seem to have some sense, #193 for example sound like someone who actually has a mature, functional relationship, but the original poster and some of the commenters on here really need to wake up and smell the coffee. Just for the purpose of making a point, I'm going to put aside any normal semblance of humility and put myself out there as an example. I think I do a damn good job of fulfilling the knight in shining armor that the stereotypical girl is supposed to dream of finding. Y'know the "he's my Edward" one that you brag about to your girlfriends, the one who you can trust to stay loyal to you even during prolonged separations, the one who still makes an effort to say and do romantic things even several years into the relationship one? That one. Assuming that the you guys were already sexually active and comfortable with each other, I wouldn't hesitate to say the same thing your BF said in that situation. In fact I have done similar things. To those of you who think that this means that a guy is an insensitive jerk, I sincerely hope that you develop a better attitude toward men in the future or you are going to have a life of messed up relationships. To those guys on here playing the "we are not all like that" line: grow a pair. I can understand wanting to wait until you're married/ready or not liking the drunken fratboy approach to relationships, but I wouldn't trust someone like you to marry my sister or any girl that I cared about for the simple reason that being a weenie in that way is a good sign that you wouldn't have the guts to look after her in tough times.
