Desperate times
Today, desperate for work, I went into a shop and asked the owner if he had any spare jobs to fill. He looked me up and down and sneered, "Yes, but not for people like... you." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, while going around trying to find a job, a manager came up to ask me, "Are you looking to work here?" I nodded happily, hoping this would be the end of my search. She looked me up and down, saw I had a jacket on to hide my tattoos and said, "Sorry, I can't hire heroin addicts." FML
Today, I was at the fish store asking if they were hiring. My stepdad decided to humiliate me by screaming at them repeatedly that I'm a good person and that I deserve the job. FML
Today, I walked into Starbucks for a job application. I asked the manager if they were hiring, as I really need a job. He looked me up and down and replied, "NO!" There was a 'Now hiring' sign in the window. FML
Today, I went in for an interview at my dream job. When I walked in, I got a dirty look from the front desk secretary. Turns out, the guy interviewing me was from a dating website I'm on. I'd rejected him and told him to get a life. FML
Today, I had a job interview at a local business with the owner who was man, and the manager who was a woman. I thought I did pretty well because I heard the manager whisper so, as I was walking out. Then I heard the owner whisper, "No fat chicks." FML
Today, an elderly gentleman customer decided to tell me that while I'm not attractive at all, he'd still bang me all the same. Then he gave me a pained smile, like he was struggling not to shit himself, and left. I'm starting to hate working retail. FML
Today, I applied for a job as a secretary. As I sat in the waiting room, the interviewer came out with his wife. She gave me a once-over, then said to her husband, "Hire this one. She's so ugly, you would never have an affair with her." FML
Today, my friends gave me a complete makeover, which included clothes from their wardrobe, to prepare me for an upcoming job interview. I was then declined the position, because apparently, I "looked too wealthy" to need the job. FML
Today, I was working my job checking people in at the gym. A sweaty, chubby woman came up to me complaining about how our staff seems so fit. I replied, "We like to hire people who have bodies that motivate our clients!" She gave a blank stare, then said, "So how did you get the job?" FML
Today, as I rung up a customer's groceries, he gave me a pitying look and said I'd have a "real job" if I'd only studied harder. FML

Some people are just shallow, don't worry OP, you'll find a job soon enough.

Some people are too quick to judge by appearance. Sorry OP!

Pull the race card!

Isn't this illegal or something?
cheeeksss 29
Considering there was no description on why OP was rejected, can't say it is or isn't illegal.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal and considered profileing.

"not for people like you" is too vague to conclusively prove that. OP could've walked in looking disheveled or with piercings/tattoos (not saying he wouldn't deserve a job solely because of that, but it is a possibility.)

Sue for discrimination! If you win, you might not need a job for a while! ;D

"...people like...you?" What the heck is THAT supposed to mean? If that's how they talk to certain people, then you're better off looking for a job elsewhere OP. Desperate or not, you at least deserve some respect.

And the sign said, "Long-haired freaky people need not apply."

That is why i tucked my hair up under my hat and went in to ask why ?

And now you send his ass to the BBB. (Better Business Bureau) Thats no way to treat someone.
xxreikoxx 31
You may want to reconsider that, considering OP is in the United Kingdom. I'm pretty sure there's no Better Business Bureau there.

What kinda ppl hardworking ppl who go and try to get jobs instead of begging
I_Bite 22
why is this getting negative votes? It's true, this person wants to go find a job and work for his money rather than beg on the streets for money. I'd say that's a good thing (ps: nothing against homeless people. I happily volunteer with salvos)

#50, it's because the grammar and spelling suck so horribly that we either can't understand them, or we're hoping they'll get a dictionary for their birthday and use it.
