Today, my girlfriend called me and said she needs to take a break from our relationship. Why? Her really clingy ex is really depressed about her dating someone else and he isn't ready to accept it. So she wants to take a break "for his sake" until he's over her. FML

Today, I haven't heard from my girlfriend for over a week, after being in a relationship for 7 years with her. She'd called me, saying she had to care for her ex-husband because he had suffered a heart attack. Guess we're over. FML

While it's touching that she's still concerned about her ex, you should still be top of her priorities. Might want to make that break an endless one. However, saying that, I too have a clingy ex... I'd never put my current relationship on hold over it, though.

She sucks and you deserve better. if she was serious she'd focus on your relationship and not care about an ex. she must still have feelings for this guy. take it as an opportunity to see if she is truly what you want. .
