Today, I was giving a patient an injection when I heard a cracking sound and the needle was gone. Panicking, I got a doctor to have a look. The patient was sent to have x-rays to find the needle in her thigh. I then noticed the springback system in the syringe. FML

Yes and no... Sometimes you're given a syringe that's pre-packaged and prepared loaded with medicine for a certain symptom and you've never seen the style before. When you're used to standard syringes, shit can still surprise you. OP did the right precautions and took care of the patient in case it actually was off inside! Humans aren't perfect, and that includes doctors.
