Today, I added some of my own money to the tip jar in the Subway I work at to make myself look less pathetic. FML

Your reasoning behind doing it is pretty sad. But putting a dollar or two in before you start your shift usually helps people tip a little bit more on a slow night (which is why I did it when working at certain establishments).

No kidding. I mean what do you expect people to tip you on? If you're a waiter, you gotta run around and carry my food and places back and forth and get me drinks and all the shit I want. Along with every other table you have. At a Subway? I just tell you what I want and you give it to me unless you're the "cook" too.

thts actually a good idea! i should try tht! thx OP!

So this is how I make money playing music on the street.

That is true. I sometimes freelance as a bartender and by doing this you can usually get a great deal more tips...Also when the jar gets full take the overflowing bills and place them under the counter so that the jar is 1/4 to 1/2 full. People are more inclined to make the Jar full.

Do you feel even less pathetic now that you've told us all about your patheticness(?) ?

OP, sorry. But really, I hope you...Go play. All it takes is 3 days per week.

agreed. maybe you should also improve the quality of service that you put out and maybe people would want to tip you. for instance: be polite and follow good hygene.

lovely... and did you actually expect that to work??

it's pathetic that you care that much about your image. you work in a subway you're not a celebrity. be proud of that, keep your chin up, and do what you have to do
