Today, I have an ear infection. The pain from it radiates from my ear all the way down the left side of my face, so my doctor prescribed me something that makes half of my face numb and pretty much unusable. Tomorrow, I have to give a presentation on strokes for my med class. Go figure. FML

What a stroke of bad luck, OP. I'm willing to lend you an ear here for all your pains and greivances. I'm not infect qualified to tell you any medical advice, but I can sympathise for your problems at face value. I hope this doesn't sound lame to you, but I feel for you, OP. Chin up, stiff upper lip, and all that, if you can.

I could totally see this person posting another FML tomorrow about how she got a zero on the presentation and got kicked out of class because the teacher thought she was mocking people who have had strokes. That would ALMOST suck as much as Kristin Stewart's acting.

Not everyone who has a stroke has a problem with their appearance. Sometimes the paralyzation doesn't occur. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I'm living proof.

I know, but it is a common side effect and thus why it would be seen as a mockery of people who have had strokes. And I hope you are now healthy and recovered and will continue to be so

You should just pretend to have a stroke in class. Since half your face probably looks like you have downs it would be perfect! You would get extra days to work on your project and free ride in an ambulance!

Well in Canada we don't have to pay, well we pay for it in our taxes so technically we do but it's not billed to us

Well I can tell you all in Ireland you are totally exempt from any fee if you have a medical card. I stayed in A&E for five days a while back and when leaving not a euro was demanded. Sometimes being born with a disability really has its good things, I wouldn't have that card without my disability.

41, sure we pay for ambulance cover through health insurance, but I'd rather pay a sum every month (and know that I can be covered for private hospitals, ambulances etc) then get billed $500 in one hit. It's technically not free but is "covered".

30 healthcare including ambulances is free at the point of use in some countries. You pay for it through taxes.

Okay you're all just restating what I said. whether its an ambulance or "free" health care you're still paying for it. You all keep saying well technically it not free because you pay for it in taxes.. Uh reread my comment because that's exactly what I said. You may not pay for it at the time but your taxes do pay for it and everyone else's. I'd prefer to just pay for me myself and I instead of everyone in the country. But that's just me. Moral of the story is nothing's ever free which is what some people thought here.

Can't OP simply stop taking the medication? FDR (I think) once gave a speech with a gunshot wound. I think an ear infection would be more than manageable.
