Why on earth would you do that? I think you spend more time and energy looking for someone special, rather than looking for someone who will take money to write fake love notes... Like obviously finding someone can be hard, but you'll never get anywhere wasting your time and money on pretend love notes... =/

hello? not everyones lives are " special" people talk about things that suck about their life and people who read this expect something interesting. well too bad! most peoples lives are common. who cares if they say they say that they are lonely lots of people are anyway.

The point of the site is to share stories that suck but are interesting/unique/funny. Plus some of the Lonely/pathetic stories are just sooo... bad. Like who would actually pay for fake lover letters or w/e? They aren't even FMLs, they're just people with way too much selfpity... =/

lol You're missing the point. Most people don't come to this site for the whiney lonely stories, they come to read the funny/interesting ones. At the end of the day, the lonely/pathetic ones bother me because they're just so bogus, boring, vaguely depressing, and REPETITIVE. I'm not desparate for something "interesting to read", I'd just prefer to see less repetitive "OMG I'm so lonely+pathetic" stories and more stories with an actual point. Just like a lot of other people on this site.

these aren't just stories they're peoples lives they post stuff like I'm lonely cuz their lonely and sure they're pathetic but it's life so what if you read it and it's boring it's not like you can control what people post you want something to read with a point w/e just go who cares if it has a point or not? you think the people who post it care? or most people who read it care?

lol When I read the stories I'm kinda hoping for what is described in the site's FAQ: Funny/ironic annecdotes. However the really whiney ones are more "Ugh" than "funny" or "ironic". It's really not a big deal. I just personally wish there were less of the really whiney pathetic ones, and I know I'm not alone on that, but at the end of the day, it is what it is, right? It's no big deal. Just a personal pet peeve... =)

42: While we can't *control* what gets published here, we can indeed *affect* it by moderating submitted FMLs and submitting our own, leaving our opinions on each published story, voting YDI or FML, and (on the website), even voting on individual comments, to the point of actually hiding the unpopular ones. That's the beauty of this website and one of the reasons it's so popular, I think: user-*influenced* content. With no user influence, it's just another article site; with too much user control, it's just another blog. 44: You could avoid the majority of these kinds of stories by reading posts by category and skipping the relationship and/or love ones. If you don't do that because you'd miss a lot of good ones, then it's pretty apparent that the good outweighs the bad, and it's not worth complaining about so strenuously.
