Today, after 10 years of intense training, I earned a black belt in karate. When I told my mom, she asked how long it took me, then laughed and sarcastically remarked, "Wow. SO impressive," whilst slow-clapping. FML

Today, I got proof that martial arts don’t really work, I’ve supposedly worked my way up to my black belt, and I challenged my brother to a match. He floored me with one punch before I could do anything, and he only weight lifts to keep in shape, he’s never done martial arts in his life. FML

Today, I competed in a Tae Kwon Do competition. I came third with my team in the sparring event. My mum said as a joke, "Were there only 3 teams?" There were. FML

Today, at a family dinner, my mother-in-law talked me into showing off some moves that I've learned in martial arts. I gently did a restraining hold on her. She screamed that I was trying to break her wrists, and kept the wounded act up all night, smirking as everyone gave me death glares. FML

she had the right idea. at 2 classes a week for an hour each class. it takes about 2 years. you must be ******* terrible and have no coordination. if that us intense training you just be fat ad **** also! congrats!

Any reputable school takes 10 years 3-5 is quick and many do it quicker but they can't actually fight. Congrats on your achievement OP

You should be so proud. A black belt is not something you just get. It takes time to earn. Just like respect. Your mom should know that respect is earned and not just given. Don't know her, but if I did, I would not respect her after that comment.
