Today, I changed my relationship status on Facebook from "in a relationship" to "single." I forgot to take my phone to work, and when I got back, I saw someone had replied, "What happened?" Someone else commented, "He broke his hand." My ex and a bunch of other "friends" liked it. FML

Today, I had the displeasure of watching my boyfriend’s Facebook go from “In a relationship” with me to “Single”, then switched to a big “In a relationship with” the girl he told me was “just a friend” post, after ending our 5-year relationship over text message. FML

Don't these sites select a default if you don't have one selected? It might be a bug in facebook. Try it. Go remove your status, make it hidden or whatever, then go back and don't change it, see if it changes for you. Maybe he wanted it to be visible, but forgot to update it, and it's single by default.

#7 - this is true: my friend regularly changes his housemates relationship status to "in an open relationship" for giggles. #9 - also a good point, the default is sinlge, so if all he did was enable "show my relationship status", that would have happened. The guy could also be a douchebag, but facebook status isn't something i'd recommend ending a relationship over unless you're 12, lol.
