I just googled "rat gestation period" and it said 19-22 days, so either OP didn't have it for very long, or their rat is gettin' some action.

FYI, you need to have at least two rats together as pets. Rats are very intelligent, social creatures, and if they don't have at least another rat with them, they get incredibly bored and depressed.
