Today, my parents got a call from my English teacher. She told them that I have 14 days of detention because I've been cutting class. I've been there every day, but apparently she never noticed me. FML

Teachers only seem to notice obnoxious bitches anyway

I've had that. Is he/she really old?

How come that mostly happens in high school and not in other grades!!!

Because many times, teachers lose respect with their teenaged students if they don't have them memorized and have to take attendance. Sometimes we have 45-student classrooms and should take attendance no matter what. When I taught in a public high school, I DID know all my students and noticed every one. Problem was, there were cameras in every classroom and I had to take attendance every day anyway or get written up. THAT is why the good teachers leave and you're stuck with the crazy ones who don't notice kids and probably think they're being merciful with 14 detentions. I'm sorry your teacher is so sucky, OP.

Would you really? You would hit your teacher? Or would you just bitch and moan to your friends and family and then try to sound tough here by spouting some bullshit?

Really? Did you really say that? Do you thrive off of this site because you're lacking in your social life? Do you find pleasure in being a "troll"? Or do you just bitch and moan to your imaginary friends about how you need to move out of mommy's and daddy's house and get a job instead of trying to sound tough on a website?

#88, DocBastard is an actual trauma surgeon. I've seen him shut trolls up more than me, you unfortunately are the most dumbest person to challenge DocBastard. Have fun with your life...

She's got balls to stand up to Doc. I've been reading FMLs for about three years..... He's the meanest commenter ever.....

Boredblonde, your attempt to turn my comment around was a noble, yet spectacular failure. I moved out of Mommy and Daddy's house several years before you were born, dear. My wife is my best non-imaginary friend, and The-A-teen already told you what my job is. Were there any other questions you had for me?

Before I waste any more of my time and end this discussion, I would like to offer you some advice. But before I do so, I would like to say that your picture shows your real maturity level. Anyone can say they're a doctor on the computer. Why should we believe you? So here's my advice: See a therapist. TALK to someone with your mouth. Yeah, it's a scary world out there, but you have to face it instead of hiding behind your computer. And those things out there moving on two legs are humans, talk to one. Now, run along, pester someone else or take my advice. Goodbye ["troll"]. Nothing you can or will say will make me feel like any less of a person. Oh and all the thumbs downs won't both me the least bit, either, but hey, I won't be checking back to see! End of this little discussion.

Yes, it's the end of this discussion because a silly clueless 16 year old girl says so. I'm quivering. As I say in my profile, I'm really martied, i really have 2 kids, I'm a real doctor, my profile picture is one of my real patients, and I really don't give a flying **** if you believe me or not. The rational people here do, so if you don't, that's your problem. I find it terrible amusing that a foolish 16 year old is trying to give me advice on life. When you grow up a bit you'll realise that you don't know everything. Now run along and whine.

Teachers only notice you if you suck up or act out. The average kids don't get much credit, unfortunately.

This is why I hate school. It's so degrading knowing that such obnoxious fools have more importance than those who actually respect authoritative figures. >:[

It sucks but you have to remember that in many schools, teachers have to deal with hundreds of students. They have a lot of work and their time and resources are often limited. So only the straight-A students, the kids who participate in class, and troublemakers are really gonna get noticed. But it also depends on the teachers as well: I'm a straight-A student and totally silent in class and while some teachers love me, most of the others are merely polite. So if you consider yourself "average" and you wanted to be noticed by the teacher; either participate in class or talk to the teacher after class. It's honestly not that hard and in college, getting chummy with the professors really pays off.

I agree with you on that. But its good if you don't want to get bothered or have teachers have high expectations for you.

How does a teacher not notice their student! She should start taking attendance!

Time to raise your hand in class.. And do your teachers don't keep a protocol in case of fire?

some have it on computer and just glance at the class to see if they match so I'm guessing this person was either in the back or the wrong seat

It's Ok OP, u don't have to lie to us...

14 days in detention? To me it is just stupid to put you in a different room all day to do nothing but sit around. If she really wanted to punish you she should have you stay in class late and do all the work you missed and need to do currently.

My schedule was changed and my former teacher was continuously marking me absent. My mom was pissed at me. I know how you feel.

i hate it when that stuff happens. How do you not notice you own students?
