"Wedding party" doesn't mean reception. It means bridesmaids, and possibly the flower girl. Could also include the groomsmen, but not it's not likely that they'd all be in one hotel room.

What I meant was why would the whole wedding party be crammed in one room for any reason. If they were going over the ceremony they'd be wherever the ceremony would be held, and if they were just hanging out why were they hanging out in OP's dad's room while he was taking a shower?
