Well first.. I don't get how that ruins the whole movie.. so shush. This isn't fight club we're talking about. But furthermore, I'd probably tell my boy to man up as well if he was crying over that.

i don't think people understand how much wilson meant to tom hank's character. it was his one and only friend on the island and the one thing that was keeping him from losing hope. while the scene may be funny at first as he throws wilson, afterwards comes the realization that he didn't just throw away a volleyball, but he threw away his friend. it would be like having a meaningless dispute with a close family member and storming out only to come back and find out they had a heart attack and died. i may not have cried at the scene, but i can definately empathize with OP
