Today, I was driving on the freeway when I get a call from my friend explaining that our two best friends died in a car accident. I pulled over in hysterics and a cop came to see what was wrong. I explained what happened and he gave me a ticket for talking on the phone while driving. FML

This is like the saddest FML I've ever read =[ I'm so so sorry. And everyone that is saying YDI for being on the phone are just being uptight assholes.

Ugh, this is why I passionately HATE so many cops.

This is why I hate police. And this is almost too sad to be an FML :(

It has been scientifically proven that while cops you meet in social situations are "great guys", the one that pulls you over is always "a festering boil on the butt of humanity". Well, not really proven, but no one's disagreed so far. Sorry, just drinkin and surfing FML :)

Technically he's right, but what an a-hole. Although, you could claim you got the call so pulled over to take it, and then stayed parked while you were crying. Unless you told him you were driving while talking. If you're up to it, write a letter appealing the ticket. His boss may be human. Either way, I'm sorry for your loss, and that cop needs a humanity injection.

the cops an asshole but if youre so broken up about it you shouldnt be talking about it on here

Your two best friends died and this is what you do/are worried about?

What a dick that cop is, does he have any respect for you and your losses at all?

I think it was basically saying that on top of what was probably the worst day of her life to begin with, an asshole cop made it even worse by giving her a ticket (even though he knew her two best friends had just died; a lot of cops let you off with a warning just because of a good attitude, so this one was a real jerk to give her a ticket knowing that her life has just changed so drastically). If she had just said, "Today, my two best friends died in a car accident. FML." it wouldn't have really been ironic (like, "could this day suck anymore? Oh, apparently it can.") and she probably wouldn't have thought to post it. OP, I'm very sorry for your loss. :( &39, her friend might not have known she was driving, and even so, that person was probably in hysterics as well and not thinking clearly.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. :( I agree with #25, this is way too sad to be an FML almost.
