Today, I took my girlfriend to a local drag racing spot to get her more involved with my friends. Her ex showed up and wanted to race me. I won the race, but blew my engine. I had to use his dad's towing service to get my car home. FML

Darn, what a drag that must have been for you.

From the sound of it, maybe he is in high school.

You should put a Bugatti Veyron SS engine in a Prius. Install nitrous and super charged twin turbos. Somehow do some tweaks so that it works properly with crazy torque but looks like the original factory model Prius. Dont tell anybody, challenge everybody for a lot of money, then make 'em eat your dust. That'll impress your girlfriend and earn you money and bragging rights. You'll need the money after paying for that Prius transformation.

Do you even know what you're talking about?

a bugatti veryon engine has quad turbos stock... you clown.

If he did that, he'd blow his engine even faster. Nitro+twin turbo= way too much air too fast.

I dont think you can even fit a 16 cylinder engine in a prius without some serious modifications

Um supercharged twin turbos? Did you possibly mean supercharger AND twin turbo? Because I believe you would find that a supercharger and a turbo are two completely different things with the same end result. And seriously, you want "supercharged twin turbos" on a quad-turbo W16 motor that puts out around 900kw and needs 10 intercoolers as stock. It literally has intercoolers to cool its intercoolers. While that would be cool, open your mind before your mouth, to avoid sounding like an idiot.

Dude I'm not serious. I know it's impossible. It's awesome to think about though. Stop taking everything to a scientific level, getting all niddy griddy with the details. I wont pretend that I'm a car expert, cause I'm not. Just pretend that you have a car thats awesome but looks normal. Just leave it at that. No need to get rude. FML is for fun, not to try and bring someone down due to a harmless comment.

#89 Wow you must be quite developmentally challenged. Your long winded idea was not fun nor informative, it was just plain stupid. Nothing you said made a bit of sense and when someone tells you you're wrong you want to argue that you knew you didn't know...umm what??!

99, he said it was a joke. Don't be such a dick.

34, superchargers and turbos don't have the same result, putting the two together really isn't all that uncommon, it gets rid turbo lag while helping the top end that superchargers lack.

I knew I didnt know what? What are you talking about. I'm not saying that I knew I was wrong. I knew it wouldn't work, thats what I'm saying. All the details with the twin turbo and stuff like that, I'm not saying I knew THAT was wrong. I was just putting some "sports car" stuff together to what I pictured to be a cool upgrade if it was possible. I knew it wasnt possible but what I didnt know was all the extra info with the quad turbo and super charger and whatever. I'm being honest and civil, you dont need to be flippin' out #99

108 I know its pretty common, and I am aware that superchargers lack the turbo top end (I have a supercharged car) and that combining them removes that issue and turbo lag, I more was meaning they both result in a power increase due to forced induction, so while their methods of working are different, they both essentially do the same job

#89 we get that dude, but also you gotta realise what was said made almost no sense. I'm not a car nut either, I'm a musician, but that doesn't allow me to open my mouth about things I don't know about without criticism. Ok, yes, I have grown up around fast cars (HSV's, Subaru Impreza's etc) and know a bit but still, I wouldn't get to say things like that without criticism, and neither would anyone else. Yeah it would be cool to have an engine from a road car that is capable of driving at 1/3 of the speed of sound inside a shitty car like a prius, but if what you said had some sense to it, you could have avoided this thread

Hey you won the race! Forget the towing service.. He should give you his car.. That's how the bad guys do it

At least better than loosing the race & using their towing service ! Focus on positives my friend

olpally 32

Ya several thousand dollars in repairs or a new car no biggie... >.>

Lol that'll teach you to leave stock parts in your car if you're gonna race it

I don't think he was planning on racing.

Doesn't matter, he went to that racing spot because he races his car, the fact that his engine blew meant that he probably left some stock engine parts

You won plus have the girl... Hold your head high

Winning has its losses... But you got the girl ( and a broken car ) but focus on the positives

Don't worry op, as long as your holeshot is better than his and you know how to lap.

Did it ever cross your mind that if you feel the need to "prove" your manhood by something as stupid as illegal drag racing, maybe you're not mature enough to be worried about having a girlfriend?

Who says it was illegal? It's possible it was on a private stretch of road or a raceway or something. Also, if he has a girlfriend like me that is as more of a petrolhead then most guys then he's not so dumb, that would be really fun.

He didn't say track. He said "racing spot". Many things in op's post (like having to rely on his challenger's dad's tow company) seem to indicate op and his friends are very young, and most tracks have an age limit for drivers. It's a pretty safe assumption, given the particular wording of op's post, that it was on a street, not a track. And in the US, even if a stretch of street is secluded, deserted, or "private", it's illegal to race or exceed the speed limit. The simple fact that op felt the need to impress his new girlfriend with feats of prowess belies his age. With maturity comes the realization that personality, sense of humor, responsibility, and intellect are more important than any athletic prowess (if you can even classify racing as such).

Is that what havning a passion is? And no, by "private" I meant literally someones private lot, driveway, etc. You can do almost anything you want with your cars on private land as long (within some limits). You dont need inaurance, you can have a racetrack, you can race souped up lawnmowers for all it matters.

Sure, and that's far more likely than op meaning a place on a public street... You obviously don't know much about teenagers in the US, and you give op far too much benefit of the doubt.
