Today, I found out that my husband was trying to cheat on me while I was away at basic training. I signed up for the service to pay off his debt. FML

Joining the military is the worst way to pay off debt period. it takes a few years to make descent money. The first couple years is just a struggle to make ends meet. Good for you for deciding on changing your life so I wouldn't think of it as a fml.

if she's married she's going to be getting BAH right away. If she went in as e-1 that's a bit over 1600 a month plus BAH. E-1 in my area code is 2445. Depending on what she was making before 4k a month, with most of that not being taxable isn't terrible
