I LOVE the boston accent. LOVE LOVE LOVE it... maybe because a lot of hockey players have that fabulous mix of Boston/Canada accent. :)
I used to have a very strong southern accent when I was younger. Then I moved to New Orleans, which is still very much the south, and was made fun of and mocked. Then there was also the issue about not knowing French, but that's another issue. Now that I'm older women seem to like southern accents and my accent only comes out after 5-7 shots, when I'm pissed off, or if I work on a car and I'm talking to someone over the music all day. When I wake up the day after either scenario I go back to my now normal voice that's quiet, calm, and strange. Every time I get pulled over the officer thinks I'm on drugs/medications because of my voice. Needless to say, if the OP had a friend from the south, they would have known that it was a fake accent. If the OP dated him just because of his accent this proves my point and adds to my despair. Either way a two month relationship doesn't mean your life is ruined, and you'll be disappointed much more when someone tells a lie that matters...
I bet that you faked something too in those 2 months time.
If he had tried that down here (Alabama) everyone would've known he was just being a douche. Sucks that you couldn't tell. #63 - Not all of us have horrifyingly southern accents, but more of a slight accent. But we can't help it. So... yeah. I actually tend to think northern accents sound more irritating.
I agree Mohlee, I'm from Alabama as well, it's fairly simply to pick out someone trying to imitate a southern accent, I think. I tend to lean more to not liking northern accents, that nasaly/stopped up tone is just as bad as our twang in everything we say.
I'd actually be really happy that he no longer had a southern accent. I always wonder if it's be easier to pick up women if I were to fake a British or Australian accent, those guys have such an unfair advantage.
hmmm wonder what else he's faking... I'd ditch him, sounds like a habitual liar to me.
A fake Southern accent is so easy to detect. You must be either deaf or demented.

gotta love his commitment though
Hey, gotta hand it to him for fooling you for two months.
