Today, I finally got everything in order to ask out the girl of my dreams. I bought her a gold necklace, engraved with our names, and with the date on the back. Everything was going great until she got sick and had to go home. Now I'm stuck with this necklace with the wrong date. FML

Today, it was my girlfriend's birthday, so I decided to take her to a fancy restaurant and give her an expensive $400 necklace that I had bought. Being traditional, I asked the waiter to arrange it nicely on the tray when he came with our dessert. Neither he nor the necklace ever showed up. FML
Today, I bought my girlfriend a very expensive necklace. I gave it to her thinking she'd be extremely happy. Instead she was mad at me because my gift for our anniversary was better than hers. FML
Today, my son was getting ready for a first date. I asked him what he was doing, and he revealed he'd saved his money and bought her a GOLD NECKLACE to show his love. I facepalmed so hard I nearly gave myself a concussion, then told him to put that away until their first anniversary or something. FML
Today, my girlfriend told me that the necklace I gave her wasn't a "unique enough gift." I spent two weeks making that necklace, link by link. FML
Today, I asked out the girl of my dreams, the girl I've loved for 3 years. I went to her desk and surprised her with roses, chocolates, and played “All I Want for Christmas is You.” She said no. On top of that, she ate all the chocolates. FML
Today, at 1am, the girl of my dreams that I've been trying for over three years to date, finally asked me out via SMS. Too bad I was asleep at the time. She now thinks I've rejected her, and will no longer speak to me. FML
Today, I lost the beautiful necklace my boyfriend gave me for Valentine's day. I looked everywhere, and couldn't find it. My sister held the bag while I dug through the stinking trash, then after I cleaned everything up, took it out of her pocket and said she was pretending it was lost. FML
Today, I asked the girl I am in love with out on a date. She asked me for my name. FML
Today, I went to a jeweler's to buy a ring to propose to my girlfriend. When I was at the restaurant, in mid-proposal, with people watching, I realized I had left the ring in the store. FML
Today, two days after sending her flowers for Valentine's Day, my dream girl asked me on a date. She didn't show up. Her boyfriend did though. FML

Pool that necklace. For like... a year. Then if you are still together, maybe it won't scare her away. Judging from what you wrote its the first date... you would freak her out with a gift like that on first date. Freak her straight out of your life forever.

That would creep me out if a guy gave me that on a first date. Great idea for in the future if it turns into anything, though. (I know it has the wrong date, I mean the idea.)

Even if it is a first date it doesn't mea they havent know each other for a while. I think it's very sweet, OP. Tell her the story and if she really likes you, she'll laugh along with you and love the necklace.

Wow, you spent all that money to get her jewelry (gold, no less), and went several steps further and sprung for that engraving as well? And your romantic gesture went to waste because she got sick? She's faking the illness to humiliate you. You must kill her, put the necklace on her, and bury her in your back yard. Maybe the next girl you waste a ton of money on jewelry for without even dating for several months first will be more grateful!

Now, class, what we have here is the textbook exampleof what we like to call "desperate" there is something else we call this and that is "creepy". Since he went through the trouble of designing such and elaborate necklace, I would be inclined to assume he is another one of those "forty year old virgin types". Orjust young and REALLY dumb.Either way, any "normal-ish" girl should run for the hills. I am having a hard time believing this happened, though I don't completely doubt it.
