Geez, Op, when it rains, it pours. The timing couldn't be worse. :p Just ignore them, it doesn't matter what they think, and many women use tampons, so forget it ever happened. :p Chin up, Op.
If you have plenty of room in your purse for them, why not? I usually have a bunch (but I keep mine in my glove box) just so I won't have to worry about running out or replacing them. It's funny, I've had girlfriends suddenly get their periods and ask if I have one to spare and yep, I do. (:
Why not just take the important stuff (e.g. wallet) from the bag and leave stuff like tampons in the bag? It's not like you can still use them after already absorbing gutter water...
Well, she'd have to pick up the bag afterwards either way. I just don't see the point of removing the tampons from the bag separately instead of picking up the entire bag and dumping the tampons later. In the meantime, the tampons might even help get most of the water out of her handbag :)
