Today, I discovered my new step-dad has a rule about the shower. After three minutes, he turns the water off at the source. I had to beg him to turn it back on whilst covered in shampoo suds, and the only way I could get him to give me another minute was to forfeit my phone for the week. FML

massive back to back droughts in Australia and kids are crying about 3 Min showers. I grew up rural here and for a number of years had baths out of a 5 litre bucket because all our dams were going dry. If you are a city or town kid it could be a water restrictions thing. Water doesn't magically appear in your pipes. It is a finite resource and with most towns here cracking tantrums about recycling water or utilising production water from gas wells because "Reasons" you can only expect water restrictions to become more and more common and strict. meanwhile FYL right? entitled precious thing you are.

Entitled would be complaining about not being able to take an hour long shower everyday. Hindering someone's ability to maintain proper hygiene is abusive and can be hazardous to their health.

we used to have 2 min showers in oz during droughts everyone had hourglass timers in the shower to measure, massive water restrictions. if they are on tank water and choosing between long showers and having water available in summer the long showers have to go. think OP is too young to remember the droughts

It takes more than 3 minutes for my shower water to heat up. You can't do anything in the shower in 3 minutes or under. Your stepdad is crazy like a coconut.

Personally I'd try to get him to do that to your mom and watch the sparks fly.

Ok, there is a 3 step plan to stop him. 1. Tell your mom 2. Do it to him, and make him do it to your mim. Make it a households rule 3. Only shower, only rinsing your hair, and use spray on conditioner and shampoo. You'll get out within 3 minutes, and he'll eventually stop

Get a gym membership, shower at the gym. Avoids step-dad's insane rules, you keep your phone and shower for however long you want to.

No hygienic person should take less than 10 minutes to shower. Tell your mother! Or CPS (child protective services). That's near-abusive. He can't stop you from taking showers.
