Today, I came out to my parents. I don't really fit any stereotype, I'm just an average guy who happens to be into guys. Ten minutes later, I overheard my mother say to my step-dad, "Should we redecorate his room pink?" FML

Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML

Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my parents. My mother turned to me and said, "Wait you're actually gay? I thought you were just saying that to piss off your father." I came out to her when I was 16, and have confided in her about my past relationships. FML

I *facepalmed* I'm straight but quite camp, my mum once outright asked me if I was gay (I told her it was none of her business XD), the next morning I went for a run and stopped for a brake at a picnic spot and some guy asked me if I was gay! But it turns out I'd stopped at a um.. 'pick up spot'. That was awkward.

That's not so bad! I would tell them you're not any different than you were before, but it's hard for people to understand when they haven't dealt with it before. I don't fit into any stereotype either so it's hard to tell I'm gay. You can show them that not every gay guy likes the same things!...except guys of course.
