Aw, that's sweet, don't feel bad, and you don't have to be in a relationship to be happy. I buy lilies for my apartment all the time because they are my favorite and they make my apartment feel homey. Flowers are only meant to look pretty and smell nice anyway. Don't let people give you shit because you wanted a flower for yourself. :)
