Today, I bought an iTunes giftcard worth $50. I tried to scratch off the little silver thing covering the code with a pair of scissors. I scratched so much that it's now unreadable. FML

If you enter an incorrect code enough times it gives you the option to "get help" which lets you type in the serial number.

Which is why you use a coin...

you're an idiot. i've done that before and as long as you didn't throw it away, there are other identifying things on the gift card. no big deal. not an FML at alllll.

YDI for using a sharp edge. Always use a dull edge like a coin, key, or a credit card

you can go on the online apple store and get the code back it happend to me too

that's why you don't use sharp edges when being careful is needed...derp

you have fingernails, or at least a coin. he'll use the scissors to cut part of the card off an use that to remove the silver crap.

... and then you got a paper cut. Great story.

you can get a new code if you go online and go to the help page and talk to one of the employees online. that happened to me once and i just told them what happened and they gave me a brand new code

that's why they have the alternative code if it doesn't work
