Today, at my school, the student council is trying to raise $5000 for Haiti. They are doing so by playing the song from High School Musical in the hallways and cafeteria everyday until they get the money. FML

Today, at my school they were having a carnival to raise money. One of the patrons suggested that if they wanted to make money, they should have people pledge money to make me cover my ugly face with a bag. The school got over $500, and I had to wear a bag. FML
Today, in gym class, we were forced to learn the "Hoedown Throwdown" dance, by Miley Cyrus. This will actually be counted toward my grade. I'm in high school. FML
Today, after two years of vigorously fundraising on behalf of my senior class, they voted on spending the senior trip money at a waterpark. It's less than thirty minutes from where we all live. FML
Today, I'm participating in a 30 hour awareness-raising event on famine in Africa. I'm supposed to hand out leaflets to people from my booth. My school decided to hand out a literal crate-load of free cupcakes right in front of us. FML
Today, I played in a high school concert. Some alumni of the band were sitting in the audience and were brought to tears. Not because it was beautiful, but because they were sad to see how much the music program had declined since they left. FML
Today, they played Nickelback at our school dance. FML
Today, it was the début of the high school musical I was in. When two others and I sang the word "Hell", my mother yelled at us for using that language, while the musical was still going, and dragged me off stage. FML
Today, my school voted for a Pokémon theme for this year's homecoming. FML
Today, during a moment of silence in front of the entire high school during my band concert, I managed to hit the stand with my flute, and loudly scrambled to catch it before it fell over. I've never had so many people look at me. FML
Today, I was elected "class mom", even though I didn’t want to do it. I was also handed several envelopes in the hectic school hallway, containing parental cash contributions for the year. I lost several of the envelopes while rushing to my car, and now have to contribute €100 instead of €25. FML

Sounds kind of fun to me. If you know a lot of people don't like the song, why not set up a stand selling earplugs and send those profits to Haiti as well?

@brigittebabe09: Where did you get "we were basically stuck on our own?" The first few countries to offer aid to America were REJECTED because your government was TOO SLOW to realize the severity of Hurricane Katrina. Even after, some aide was rejected due to political issues against the country offering (example: Venezuela). The hurricane managed to wreak so much havoc because you guys were TOO CHEAP to build proper sufficient levees which were promised by your American Government in 1965. Yet, there were over A HUNDRED MILES of damage to the levees. Instead of paying to stabalize the levees for millions, you ended up in billions of dollars in damage. Millions and millions of dollars and aide were given to US for America even though the USA is relatively financially stable compared to Haiti, one of the poorest nations in the world. The death toll in Katrina was in the thousands. Haiti? HUNDREDS of thousands. Not meaning offense to Americans in general but I hate egocentric people and America seems to have many of them.

ohhoho: okay, i will agree with you that when it comes to where we build homes, we tend to not care as long as we get the money. i never thought that new orleans was a good place to build because of it being year its located, but hell it happened. i KNOW that the thing with haiti was tragic, dont get me wrong i hate seeing people suffer especially little children. when i get in college i plan to study medical because i wanna help people and i hate seeing suffering. the only thing that i was stretching on this topic was that we NEED to help our own county before the others, thats it. i could careless if we help others as long as the people in our own country is helped first.

okay sarah89, lets get something straight i made it clear that i wasnt completely against the whole haiti thing. now if you think im not a caring person just because i have a certain belief, than thats ridiculous. my belief is that we need to help our own country before we help the others, i know a lot of people that agree with my belief. and just because i believe that doesnt mean im ignorant, selfish, or uncaring. after all, this is america and we are entitled to free speech and we are able to voice our own opinions, however all that is going completely down hill. just get your facts straight before you go and judge someone. k? good. if we help our own country first, then i could careless if we help others. just we come first. plus, haiti is a very poor country and it is a tragic about what happened but, what makes you think we can help them? america had always been about helping people, before our own. its just time to realize that we have struggles in our own country that we need to fix.

ok so for all the people that are saying that we should help haiti till we help the people that live in the us maybe you should look up something online one day and see that we have a lot of help out there for homeless and jobless people all they need to do is look and then there was a lil war that happened in 1775 called the revolutionary war some very nice people called France came over and gave us a hand now from what your saying they shouldnt have done that because they didnt know us and if they had not come to help us when they did then the usa wouldnt be here and we wouldnt be able to help all the people we do everyday so maybe just maybe you should think about all the people that have helped the us whenwe needed before you say we shouldnt go and help them. you never know maybe just maybe when all of this is over haiti will go on to do something great.

at our school there are about twelve cups with the name of a song on each we donate to our favourite and the three songs with re most donations are played the following day all proceeds got to haiti
