Working in the food industry can be difficult. There is a lot worse. Don't get flustered over others ignorance
Blame it on trust issues
lmfao
I work at subway as a side job and the same thing happens to me all the time! Also the "how big is a foot long?" Oh and my favorite, "what type of bread would you like?" And they respond by saying "I said turkey!" Well ok then, turkey bread it is...
No my favorite is "hey how is your day going"? I'd like a footlong turkey. Well ok sir
Or the "would you like any veggis on that?" Response: "No." Then "HEY! You didn't put my pickles on there!" -.- it isn't that hard! Lol
Ignorance is everywhere.
1/2 a foot
That just means straight out of the refrigerator without ice. I like my cranberry juice and Arizona iced teas that way. Cold, "without ice added" to water it down. It's not that hard to understand what they want. If you don't keep your teas in the fridge then the answer is simply "no". Sorry but I don't think they're stupid for asking that question. Just think of a martini-- straight up. Shaken not stirred.

It's a food long of course
Wasn't it some foreigner? I don't know how much 1 inch is too, because we use centimeters here
