Today, some thieves broke into my church and stole our cameras, monitors, and some other hardware. We were planning to use them for the security system we were about to install. FML

cakefete2 tells us more.

I can't speak for the finances of every church, but at my church we are not flush with cash in the way a mega church might be. We are called to be stewards of the property God had given us and to this end, we asked people to dig deep that we could fill the need that was evident. Sadly, after the sacrifices that were made, we can't help but be hurt. Still, Christians are versed in hardship and overcoming adversity. We will pray for the thief, ask healing for the church, and seek blessings to continue to meet the needs of the community.

you've gotta be pretty low to steal from a church.

Looks like they need some Jesus in their life.... I guess they already have some of his hardware

Hopefully they don't get burned in the deal. But knowing that police officers solve stuff like this relatively quick. May god have mercy on their souls!

stolen security system?...

I don't think it's worse than stealing from anybody else.

#11 seriously?? you need some church!

#11 I'm not religious in that I don't attend a church, but I still have to agree that stealing from a church is on a much lower level than say, stealing from a bank or a jewelry store where there is a potential to get something extremely valuable. Churches in general are easier to target and usually don't have as much to offer in reward as a bank or a jewelry store does. In addition, churches usually don't have the same level of insurance that banks and jewelry stores do, making the overall cleanup and recovery more expensive for them.

#21 So stealing from someone who has more is better? I don't want this to become a full blown argument. All I'm saying is that stealing is low no matter who the victim is.

I'd say that stealing from a church is particularly egregious because they rely on donations from their laymen to exist, and also because they often do a lot of good for their community, both in tangible ways, like donating food and clothing to the needy or victims of disasters, and in intangible ways, by organizing events that bring people together or offering free counseling to those in distress. I know personally a church has helped me a lot. When I was divorcing my abusive and adulterous (now ex) husband I went to speak to a psychiatrist, who was totally useless. He was dismissive and offered no help other than narcotics, which I didn't want. So I then went to speak to the chaplain and he was very helpful. He was compassionate and understanding, and helped me work out the problems I was having. Now I know that some people dislike churches, and think that they're full of judgemental people who oppress others, and while it's true in some rare cases, it doesn't reflect on the majority of churches who want to give their communities hope. So yeah, it's pretty shitty to steal from a church. To me it's akin to stealing from a charity.

#58, How so? Churches aren't usually impoverished, it's not like taking candy from a baby.

I don't know what your church is like, OP, but I can see from your comment that you have a great attitude and strong faith. I'm not much for praying these days, but I will pray that your church bounces back from this misfortune, and that your needs as a church are met.

You were better off investing in a couple of guard dogs.

I think so too, cameras are pretty much useless nowadays.

wow how disrespectful. At my church they stole the baby Jesus statue during Christmas time. It was so sad and everyone was real upset.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

It's like they knew o.o

Isn't that an instant hell to steal from church? *edit: I realized after I posted that this might start the "hell/ no hell debate...please don't, pretty please.

You put yourself that position my good sir!

That depends on your religion and your beliefs.

7, your comment doesn't even matter,.stealing from a church is just wrong! I bet even the worst people we know can tell you that (unless they themselves have stolen from a church Lol)

Ghetto Psalms: Dushane 2:19 'and the lord said if bitches be creeping, then brothers take up arms and steal the bitches eyes, Amen'

Damn that's just wrong.... hopefully the big man will short circuit the stuff

There is a button for that and please elaborate why they deserve it.

Why would anyone deserve to be robbed

There's a button for that
