As someone who lives about 2 miles from an area like that. How did you not know what you were moving into? Like it's time to move out of there to a better area, or just go to work anyway. Pretty sure your job isn't going to keep letting you call out over this

Assuming you have a car, there isn't really a reason why you can't go to work. Invest in tinted windows if you're worried. If you're relying on walking + public transportation, that does suck. I get to the bus by walking past the row of shops that has been shot up numerous times over the years I've lived here. After a while you won't bat an eye.
