Today, my girlfriend of three years broke up with me because I'm in the military and I'm gone too much. The reason I enlisted in the first place is because we agreed that the money and benefits I would earn would help us be able to start a family in the future. FML

I'm an army wife so I know it takes a certain type to be able to handle the military lifestyle. I know it's not much comfort now but you're better off knowing before the wedding. Sadly enough it's a common thing once they've been moved away from their family and friends. You'll find someone who can handle it and she will realize that it's a give and take.

I'm sorry, that sucks. My boyfriend of three years is in basic training and I would never break up with him. Some people just can't handle long distance, though.
