Today, my husband is so desperate to not spend time with my parents that on my dad's birthday he claimed he forgot and booked a trip to the dentist, and now for their anniversary he's pulled the same trick again and booked this year's prostate exam. FML

If he dislikes spending time with your parents, and is old enough to need yearly prostate exams, maybe it’s just time to concede the point and stop pressuring him to go. It’s perfectly acceptable for you to visit your parents without making him go to, especially if there may a good reason that he doesn’t enjoy visiting your parents.

If he dislikes your parents that bad, you have to stop and look at WHY. Because there's a reason. Either way, as much as you would like him there, he doesn't have to go. Visit them on your own.

My wife's parents treated me like shit when i first met my wife, because well, i wasn't rich enough for their standards. fast forward today,i absolutely avoid them.

A dentist visit and a prostate exam are two completely different tricks! They are completely different holes.
