Parasites

Today, after massive bouts of diarrhea, vomiting, and doctor visits lasting weeks, I finally got a diagnosis… from my puppy's vet. I got Giardia from my dog. FML

When an enemy tells you to “eat shit,” you don’t actually have to do it.

So now you get your medication in pill pockets and if you don't feel better after two weeks, you'll get euthanized?

Don’t worry, you’ll eventually give your dog a human disease and then you’ll be even. The most likely candidate: Obesity.

Well, if you've had this for weeks the good news is that you don't have much longer with it. Giardia is typically self resolving in most cases within a span of 2-8 weeks. Antibiotics such as flagyl are sometimes perscribed but not always. An important thing to do is to figure out how your dog transmitted this to you. Typically contact with feces is the common way to contract giardia. I'm sure you can why this can be a problem and should probably be addressed.

Hey OP or educated person explain what that is.

It's other name is beaver fever I believe. I know it's a parasite that affects the intestines causing symptoms like the one OP described, but I don't know much about it other than that.

Perhaps that’s also the cause of Bieber fever, too. An intestinal parasite is a more reasonable explanation than his talent and stage presence.

giardia is an intestinal parasite common in dogs and cats that causes extreme diarrhea and occasionally vomiting. it's is transmitted by fecal to mouth contamination.

This is why people should let their dogs or any pet lick their face/mouth. They eat their own feces and lick their buttholes. That gets directly transferred to you. It’s a myth that a dogs mouth is cleaner, because it’s definitely not.

Before eating, you should always cook your pets at 350 degrees for at least 3 hours to kill all bacteria.
