Lost

Today, my friend and I went boating. In the middle of the lake, we decided to jump in. We put our valuables in the boat and jumped in. When I tried to get back in the boat, it flipped over, and our cellphones, along with my car keys, are at the bottom of the lake. FML

Give up boating and pick up diving?

WHY WOULD YOU BRING THOSE THINGS WITH YOU ON A BOAT?! I get not having a safe place to put them-- but then why the HELL would you *jump out* of that boat and risk something happening to all of your shit? My GOD YDI for being such a dumbass!!! >_

Ok, so here's how you get your shit back. go out over the lake again and call your cell phone, follow the sound and once you find the cell phone I'm sure your keys will be close as well. Problem solved

ydi for not getting back in the boat from the back of the boat. and thers nothing wrong with bringing electronics onboard i do that all the time even on a canoe but hers the trick put them in the waterproof case that your suppost to have on a boat by law. well depending where you live

Most people i know who go out on the lakes nearby, have a little foam floaty thing attached to their keys

I believe this is fake. If he couldn't get home and couldn't use any electronic devices, how would it have been his priority to put this up on FML?

#68 are you forgetting something? phones + water?

Have you ever heard of walking, and using a computer when you get home?

I don't know about your phone but if I drop my phone in water much less a LAKE.. I think it'd die. unless ur being sarcastic lol

well that sucks but you should learn how to get into a boat without tipping it over...

Buy a floating cooler or something. Why do you take valuables on a boat anyway? Duh.

i like to take my cell phone boating quite often... he likes it when i squirt in his eye

Would would you bring your valuables? I can't go anywhere without my ipod but I got into a boat I would left all my electronics and personal belongings that I didn't need on the shore. You went out to have a good boat ride and to have some summer fun, put away the electronics for 10 minutes 8-)

It's a lot easier to call for help on a cell phone than screaming your head off for help. That's why you bring a cell phone on a boat. Smart move by the OP to bring the cell phone on board.

definately time to go swimming. how deep is the lake? also sport stores have tons of floaty thing for just such devices.

Why would you do this? Why wouldnt you at least put shit in a ziploc bag if not something more secure? YDI for sure

ziplock bag would not keep phone and keys from sinking if the boat flipped... it would just keep them dry as they fell. they would still be lost at the bottom of the lake.

Learn the basics of boating first. And stop feeling sorry for yourself, no one cares.

Just what I was thinking; TYVM. Haven't been on a boat much, YDI?? Next time you want a boat ride, call Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Costa... Awww, you won't be allowed to "jump in" from the sides of THOSE boats.

YDI for bringing your valuables on a boat without protecting them at all, and for not knowing how to get into a boat without tipping it over. Idiot.
