Today, I quit my job and sent a mass mail on Facebook that I was moving to a different state with my long time boyfriend. He called me later that night to tell me we aren't moving after all. Now we are both jobless with loads of bills to pay by the end of the month. FML

Today, I quit my job that my girlfriend and I worked together at. Fellow employees are not allowed to date one another and I said it would be ok if I was the one to leave. When I got home to her and told her that I quit, she decided to break up with me. I now have no job and no girlfriend. FML

Today, I received a mass email from my boss saying we had a position open at the daycare I work at. I knew my boyfriend was looking for a job so I insisted he apply. Later at work, my boss takes me into her office and tells me my employment is being "terminated". My boyfriend is replacing me. FML

Today, I finished hauling all of my possessions from another state, because I was supposed to move in with my girlfriend. I was just waiting to find a job. Almost as soon as my stuff was delivered, she broke up with me and told me to figure out getting it all back by myself. FML

Today, I left my job, fulfilling my one month's notice after receiving a job offer from a much better-paying role. After saying goodbye to everyone, I left the building. Not two minutes later, the company who was offering the new job called to say they'd changed their minds, and there was now no longer a job on offer. FML

Today, I went to my boyfriend's apartment to break up with him since he's always busy, and I haven't seen or spoke to him in almost 2 months. I arrived to find out from his landlord that he'd moved out 3 weeks ago, leaving a note saying that we were over. FML

Today, I discovered a bunch of emails from my old account that weren't forwarded to my new one. Because of this, I missed a job offer, as well as all the emails from my long-distance boyfriend asking if he could visit. I still don't have a job, and I broke up with him because he "failed to communicate." FML

You totally deserve it, no matter what the situation is, you shouldn't have quit your job and sent a mass message until you had things finalized and concrete, such as a signed lease or mortgage and/or deposits or down payments paid. And based on what you wrote in your FML, things weren't set in stone beforehand. And you shouldn't really move without making sure you have a job in the place that you are moving to. What makes you a jackass even more is, if you're planning to make such a big move you should have COMFORT MONEY SAVED IN THE BANK just in case the move doesn't go smoothly. That comfort money should be more than enough to help you pay your bills at the end of the month and have enough left over so that you're not submitting FMLs. Things like this need to be thought out and planned well in advance, OP, because life is not perfect as you now know...

Why didn't you and your boyfriend: 1) Keep your current jobs until you actually move? 2) Find a job in the new state BEFORE quitting the current one?

ydi for quitting your jobs before you both had new jobs lined up in the area you were supposed to move to. I mean, do you watch the news? our economy sucks so getting a job when you got there could take you weeks, if not months.
