Today, while reviewing boxes of motorcycle parts, I noticed my neighbor's daughter gleefully watching me. I jokingly said, "Wanna do this?" and she let out a loud squee and got to work alone. A few hours later, the bike was ready for a test run. I had no idea how to even start building it. She's 14. FML

Today, I assembled my kid’s birthday bike without reading the instructions. I proudly presented it, only for him to sit on it and immediately realize the handlebars were on backwards. The training wheels were also uneven, so it leaned like a sinking ship. My kid said, “It’s OK Dad, it's not your fault,” which hurt more than if he’d laughed. FML

Damn. I hope she's signed up for STEM courses or that's kind of a shame. That much talent AND liking it? Not common.

How cute though, she found a hobby, and maybe someone to share it with.

FML? How about filing that under AWESOME!

Maybe you should have had her teach you how to build the motorcycle...could have been fun and you would have learned something new.

You've got a fix/upgraded bike, and a kid got to hone and develop a skill she's interested in. Put some ice on that ego. This story sounds like a win-win.

She sounds amazing, I’m glad she found something she’s good at. What’s your problem?
