Today, when I proposed to my girlfriend of 8 years, she said no because she thought we were moving too fast. FML

That sucks. But that's probably just her excuse for not getting engaged instead of "I've been cheating on you" She obviously doesnt want you. Sorry

Who's saying anything about age? I've known people to date from the time they turned 10, and they're 19 now and still dating. Who's to say that these people aren't really really young? I turn my YDI on the commenters for judging.

OP and his girlfriend were probably running away from the cops after being busted for drug trafficking. Obviously she couldn't stop to accept his proposal or else the cops would have beaten her face in with a club.

If you've been dating for eight years, maybe she didn't mean you were moving too fast as a couple. If you're younger than, say, 25, she might think you're too young to get married. Don't take things the wrong way at first glance.

Your ex-girlfriend I hope. Waste no more time with this one!

Really? Shit man. Dump her, it doesn't seem you'll get anywhere with her soon.

She might be scared. Try and talk to her about it. I don't know your guys' situation so I can't tell. You can, though. Definitely still pretty upsetting. You'd think you would have earned her trust (as in, she wouldn't be scared) after 8 years.

#13 I agree with you!!! you've been together for almost a decade and she thinks that marriage is moving too fast then you're obviously on two separate pages and I don't think that it's appropriate for you to keep lingering on her
