You don't owe her jack shit. She decided to **** and have a kid, she's legally obligated to care for it for the first 18 years. Just cause she did what was required of her doesn't mean she's automatically owed compensation. Since you have a book I can only assume you're an adult, which means you should be able to remind her of this without fear of repercussions. Congratulations on your accomplishment, OP. I hope you at least have some family who are proud and not just looking to cash in. - Sebastian

I totally agree with you. Nothing pisses me off more than when I hear parents tell their kid/s they owe them for raising them. Obviously OP didn't choose to be born it was their mothers choice so she takes full responsibility for her child. I cannot believe that some asshole parents honestly have the nerve to try and get money from their kids as pay for raising them. OP she's probably just jealous of your success. Don't give her a dime because you don't owe her anything. Also congrats on getting your book published.

The "payment" for her parenting is that you wrote and published a book. It's solid proof that she raised you right and you took what she taught you and put it to good use.

She can demand all she would like, it doesn't make that more likely to happen. I couldn't imagine my parents doing such a thing. One would think a parent would be happy to see their child succeed in life.
