No, it's used to describe things in a negative way so that just makes no sense at all. It is much more likely that the expression stems from the more common modern usage of the word gay to mean homosexual. The expression therefore implies that homosexuality is bad. The expression is offensive and it just sounds so tacky, immature and ignorant. If someone went around saying "that's so Chinese" or something to mean "that's so dumb," people wouldn't tolerate it. It should be no different with this rude expression.
Sure you can say whatever you god damn please. It just makes you sound like an idiot, and an immature one at that. Its like you can't think anything else, so you call somebody gay. And what if they are actually gay? Kind shoots down your insult, doesn't it? It's like "HEY! You're gay!" "Yep" "..oh...*eh hem*...I'm just gonna....go over here....now....cause I have nothing else to say..."

lmao seriously being gay is like an illness -_- I'm sorry but no one would choose to be gay when they can choose to be normal it's something your stuck with so it can definitely be used in a derogatory way :) so get over it and if you're gay too bad.
No, it is not offensive. 90% of the people I know have used the term "retard" to describe something or someone stupid , but not to make fun of the mentally handicapped. So get your head out of your a** and realize that the English language is flexible and has many different slag definitions and uses.
did she get the number from e4? i'm sure it's meant to be a joke... the people in that ad got married and she dumped him due to a "2% compatability rating". tbh, you're better off without someone that dumb. they charge £4/month for that service as well. i'm suprised that it's legal.
And you really wanna be with someone who takes relationship advice from a stupid text service? I WORK for one of those stupid text services, and I only give the opposite answers of what they're clearly looking for. Because it's hilarious and if they're dumb enough to follow them, I'm doing someone somewhere a favor.
i can't believe someone would work for a company that's so immoral and then laugh about breaking up relationships. your company preys on stupid people and charges a fortune to give a fake message, of which they actually believe to be true. i agree that people shouldn't be so dumb, but the company you work for is as bad if not worse, and the money you make is dirty. you could be encouraging women to stay with men who beat them up just because of a high rating, or to break up with someone perfect because of a low rating. they shouldn't believe it but the company shouldn't offer such a service either.
@untalented1: Are you serious? Like, please, for the sake of my belief in humanity, tell me you're joking. "you could be encouraging women to stay with men who beat them up just because of a high rating" OK...if someone is in an abusive relationship, I would REALLY hope that they would be busier trying to get help or SOMETHING other than texting a random company to see if their abuser is "compatible" with them. Hint: if he/she is hitting you, you're not compatible, no matter what your phone tells you. "i know, but if you don't take them seriously then you're spending £4/month on one fake message when there are people starving in the world." No one is holding a gun to people's heads making them text these companies. If they wanna pay £4/month on texts instead of donating it to starving people, thats THEIR fault, NOT the companies'. The COMPANIES are not at fault here, the MORONS doing the texting, like OP's girlfriend, are. "your company preys on stupid people" Exactly. As someone else said, its social Darwinism. If you are stupid enough to sign up, you DESERVE to be preyed on, not pitied for being an idiot.
@ihatestupidpeople to prey on people, whether they're stupid or not, is immoral. if society can't see that then we're doomed. to be stupid can be fine; you can live a prosperous life with the person you love and have enough money to live. it's not a problem. it becomes a problem when people try to sell you something you don't need which will ruin your life and take a lot of money away from people. it's the problem that has been caused by vultures, not a problem that should need to be overcome otherwise. it's robbery imo. you need to take a step back and look at what you're saying. you're distorting an argument for the sake of justifying something wrong.
"it becomes a problem when people try to sell you something you don't need which will ruin your life and take a lot of money away from people." I stick by what I said before, NO ONE is forcing them to use the service. Have you watched commercials lately? MOST of the stuff being sold is stuff people don't need. People are allowed to sell whatever they want (within the confines of the law, and there's nothing illegal about the texting services). Other people need to have the common sense to decide "hey, I don't need that so I'm not gonna buy it" or "I don't need that, but I can afford it, so lets do it". Robbery implied money being taken, not someone making a conscious decision to fork it over. You are talking about stupid people, not mentally handicapped, and stupid people have the ability to make decisions for themselves. Them making the wrong ones is no reason for humanity to rally behind them and protect them from the big, bad, evil, meanie businesses.
@ untalented one: yeah, you have a valid point saying that it is immoral to trick people that are guilable and stupid, and obviously cannot think for themselves. But all the same, it is a fundamental part of our social and economic way of life! what is fashion, television shows, advertisments (and yes, even advertisments to aid people in third world countries), other than manipulation aimed at a particular audience that will happily buy into it? its essential for our way of life. Im not saying that your wrong. because yeah, it is immoral to pray on the stupid, but its also a key part of our social lives.
