Today, my family gathered at my 96 year old great-grandmother's surprise birthday party that was my idea. When she walked in, we surprised her so much that she literally had a heart attack. She is now in the hospital. FML

Today, during a family reunion, my 89 year-old grandma stood up and drunkenly made a speech about how ashamed I should be of myself for still being single. She then passed out at the table. Half my family got up to help her, the other half whispered in agreement. FML

Today, I drove over an hour to my grandma's house for her birthday party. When she answered the door, her eyes went wide and she said angrily "No, not you!" and slammed the door shut in my face. FML

Today, my mom sent me beautiful candlesticks along with some half burned candles. I thanked her. She told me the candlesticks were a wedding gift to my grandmother 85 years ago. Then she said the candles were used at my grandma's wedding. I had already lit them. FML

I think people forget that just be because you're 90+ years old doesn't mean you have no sense of humor. I work in a seniors home and had a 97 year old resident whose only birthday wish was to get bigger boobs! Of course it's unfortunate OP's G'ma fainted but for all we know, this is the kind of pranks she could have been pulling on her grand kids their whole lives!

Everyone is misunderstanding the reason for the FML. It's not because the grandma passed out. It's because the grandma passed out into the cake and ruined it for everyone else.
